Dr. Harold Menchel received his DMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1978. After serving a US Army residency from 1978-1981 at Fort Campbell Kentucky he practiced general dentistry in Coral Springs Florida until 2000.

After a preceptorship at the University of Florida Parker Mahan Facial Pain Clinic, he passed the examination for Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and now limits his practice to diagnosis and treatment of TMD and head and neck pain.

He is now credentialed as a specialist by the American Dental Association. At this time he is the only specialist limiting his practice to Orofacial Pain in South Florida.

Dr. Menchel lectures internationally often as keynote speaker, and has been published in major journals including the Journal of the American Dental Association, and Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America. He has been given many awards in the field of Orofacial Pain and has been involved as a leader and advocate for national access to care for Orofacial Pain.

He is an active member and officer in the American Academy of Orofacial Pain as well as many other professional organizations.

He continues his research and teaching at the Dental School.
