COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this highly clinical presentation, concepts of root canal access preparation, instrumentation, and obturation will be discussed.  Emphasis will be placed on clinical factors that help improve successful outcomes when utilizing such efficient techniques. The use of effective irrigation protocols to improve clinical outcomes and incorporating ultrasonic technology during the irrigation phase of treatment will be presented. A blended instrumentation technique that combines heat-treated and non-heat treated files to achieve a robust instrumentation protocol and incorporating a bioceramic based obturation technique for simple and effective root canal obturation will also be discussed and demonstrated.

The hands-on workshop will also include a demonstration for all participants of a simple drill-less post technique. Preventive Endodontics and vital pulp therapy techniques utilizing modern bioceramics will also be explained and discussed.

INSTRUCTOR BIO

A Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. Herman received his DDS degree from New York University College of Dentistry and his Certificate in Endodontics from Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Herman has been in Endodontic private practice for 40 years, and served as Chief of Endodontics at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY for 35 years. He also served as an attending in Endodontics at Long Island Jewish Hospital in the GPR program for 38 years. He is a member of the College of Diplomates of the AAE and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. Presently, Dr. Herman is an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Post-Graduate Endodontics at Nova Southeastern University.

As a member of Real World Endo Board of Advisors, Dr. Herman is certified to conduct Lectures and seminars in Precision Based Endodontics.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the lecture and hands-on program, attendees will:

  • Learn a robust blended instrumentation system that allow safe shaping of a variety of root canal shapes and sizes
  • Learn to obturate the shaped canals with a simple and efficient, bioceramic based obturation technique.
  • Learn conservative vital pulp therapy techniques in order to avoid the need for root canal therapy when possible.
