An intensive two-day, hands-on course focuses on the latest direct anterior composite restorations protocols.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This intensive two-day, hands-on course focuses on the latest direct anterior composite restorations protocols. This program will give you the knowledge and experience to perfect composite restorations. Attendees will gain skills in layered composite and pull-through techniques for composite veneers and Class IV, stress-free isolation techniques, diagnostic mock up, and effective finishing and polishing techniques. You will be able to understand how to incorporate long lasting and tooth-like direct composite to your daily practice as a reliable alternative to ceramic while practicing minimally invasive dentistry. Drs. Oliveira-Haas, Far, Neto, Azhari, Soares, and Roman will provide over-the-shoulder mentoring. This team of very skilled faculty members will provide guidance for an intensive patient simulation experience. Outstanding handouts and videos with step-by-step for simulated practices will be provided, as well as classic literature articles. Attendees will refine their composite resin skills and will learn the lasted techniques to immediately apply them to your patients and enhance your clinical performance.

Luana Oliveira-Haas, Course Director

Dr. Luana Oliveira-Haas, Associate Professor, is acknowledged for her expertise and training in the areas of operative/esthetic dentistry, evidence-based dentistry, and research. Dr. Oliveira-Haas graduated from Federal University of Uberlandia, Brazil and received her DDS degree in 1995. She also received a certificate in Advanced Studies in Esthetic Dentistry at Sao Paulo State University, Brazil and the following year she completed a Specialty Program in Operative Dentistry at Federal University of Uberlandia, Brazil. Dr. Oliveira-Haas achieved a Master and PhD in Operative Dentistry at Sao Paulo State University, Brazil in 2004. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Oliveira-Haas relocated to the United States where she became a full time faculty member at NSU and has been teaching there for the past eleven years.  Dr. Oliveira-Haas continues to teach in a high quality postgraduate program in operative dentistry. A skilled clinician, Dr. Oliveira-Haas successfully instructs the residents through comprehensive dental care and complex restorative procedures, ensuring that high quality care is provided. Dr. Oliveira-Haas is constantly learning new technologies and applying her knowledge to improve the oral health care of her patients.

Dr. Oliveira-Haas is actively involved in clinical research and mentoring postgraduate residents. She is published in peer-reviewed journals and presents at scientific meetings. When not working, she loves to spend time with her beloved husband and two children. Dr. Oliveira-Haas is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Paulo Vinícius Soares DDS, MS, PhD

Dr. Paulo Soares is clinician in his private institute and professor at Operative Dentistry and Dental Materials, School of Dentistry – Federal University of Uberlandia (FUU/Brazil). He is graduated at FUU (2002), concluded the residence at Operative Dentistry and Master of Science degree about biomechanical behavior of tooth-restoration complex (2005). In 2008, at UNICAMP (Campinas, Brazil) finished the PhD thesis about effect of dental material on restorative techniques. He was FUU Graduation Course coordinator between 2009 and 2013. In 2014 moved to Chicago as Scholar Visiting in University of Illinois (UIC) to conclude his Post-Doctoral fellow. Recently launched his first book in International Dental Show (Cologne, Germany) and International Association of Dental Research (San Francisco, USA) “Noncarious Cervical Lesions and Cervical Dentin Hypersensitivity” by Quintessence Publishing. He published 62 dental manuscripts, which 36 are published on international periodics (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=soares+pv) and 11 book’s chapters.

  • How to use layering technique to decrease chair time.
  • Prefabricated composite veneers.
  • Finishing and polishing to achieve enamel-like restorations and save chair time.

COURSE OBJECTIVES – Hands-On:

  • Fabricate silicone index.
  • Class IV using layering technique.
  • Direct composite veneer for anterior teeth (teeth #6 to 11)
  • Finishing and polishing step-by-step using effective and simplified techniques.

COURSE OBJECTIVES – Live Patient Demonstration:

  •  Diagnostic mock up for direct composite veneers
