Dean's Message

Dear Colleague,

Linda Niessen, D.M.D., M.P.H., M.P.P. It is a pleasure to continue offering the services of NSU Oral Pathology, for the specialty practice of oral maxillofacial pathology. NSU Oral Pathology Services was established to assist you in the diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with head and neck lesions and conditions.

Three outstanding oral maxillofacial pathologists oversee this service. Under the auspices of Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, Diane Stern, D.D.S., Ines Velez, D.D.S., M.S., and Lynn Solomon D.D.S., M.S. board certified oral maxillofacial pathologists, will work with you on an individualized basis. Drs. Stern, Velez  and Solomon will see your patient clinically or will accept tissue samples for evaluation. In addition, a full armentarium of radiologic services is available for the diagnostic process.

Diane Stern, D.D.S.

Clinical Professor of Surgery, University of Miami School of Medicine. Professor, Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences, Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Stern has been a practicing oral maxillofacial pathologist for 51 years. A magna cum laude graduate of Hunter College, Dr. Stern received her D.D.S. from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1961. Dr. Stern co-authored: Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. A Rationale for Diagnosis and Treatment. This book received The American Medical Writers Association Book of the Year Award in 2002.

Lynn W. Solomon D.D.S., M.S.

Lynn W. Solomon, D.D.S., M.S.Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Fellow, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Associate Professor,  Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences, Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Solomon has practiced oral maxillofacial pathology for 8 years. She graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, where she also obtained her master’s in Oral Sciences and postgraduate oral pathology training. Dr. Solomon completed a Head and Neck Pathology Fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine and was a faculty member at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Ines Velez, D.D.S., M.S.

Ines Velez, D.D.S., M.S.Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Fellow, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Professor and Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences, Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Velez has been a practicing oral maxillofacial pathologist for 29 years. She graduated with honors from Colegio Odontologico Colombiano, she received her postgraduate training in oral and maxillofacial pathology from the University of Florida. In addition, Dr. Velez received her master's in education from Universidad De Los Andes, Colombia.
