Welcome to the Department of Maxillofacial Medicine. Our Department includes the disciplines of Oral Medicine, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and Facial Pain. In the NSU CDM pre-doc and post-doc clinics, we provide the non-surgical medical management of patients with systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes to ensure the delivery of safe dental care. In addition, we diagnose and treat diseases of the mouth to include Herpes simplex infections (fever blisters), recurrent aphthous ulcers (canker sores), allergic reactions, burning mouth syndrome, and oral mucosal disorders. The Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Biopsy service is the only oral biopsy service in south Florida and serves both the dental school and private practice communities. Our radiologists utilize digital imaging to deliver minimal radiation exposure, while advanced imaging such as cone beam CT is also available. Each of the full-time faculty is board-certified in their respective discipline. The Facial Pain clinic serves patients with chronic facial pain such as non-odontogenic facial neuralgias, temporomandibular muscle and joint (TMJ) disorders, musculoskeletal, neuropathic, and neurovascular pain disorders, as well as jaw movement, headache and sleep disorders, with state-of-the-art treatments.
