Interview Process

The D.M.D. Program Admissions Office will communicate via email with applicants upon receipt of AADSAS Application requesting completion of the NSU Supplemental Application. In addition, applicants are invited to view their application status on NSU WebSTAR. An applicant will not be considered for an interview until all required documents are received, i.e., AADSAS, NSU Supplemental Application, and DAT scores.

Applicants chosen for interviews must be academically prepared and have demonstrated an interest in dental medicine through clinical, community services, and/or research activities. Those selected for interviews are contacted by email by the D.M.D. Program Admissions Office to schedule interview visits. Following confirmation, you will be provided with an agenda, local travel, overnight accommodations information, parking, and other details to enhance the applicant’s visit. Applicants may view their status anytime on the NSU WebSTAR.

The actual interview day may include:

  • An overview of the curriculum, facilities, and student support.
  • An interview with faculty.
  • A tour of the dental college facility by current students.
  • Lunch with current students.
  • A visit with the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Services.
  • Information regarding the admission committee decision process including making acceptance offers, alternates, rejection, and future communication.

Acceptance Process

When the Committee on Admissions (COA) makes a final decision regarding an interviewed applicant, the D.M.S. Program Admissions Office will publish and advise all applicants according to the AADSAS traffic rules. Applicants may also view the status of their application at anytime on NSU Self Service Banner (WebSTAR).

Decisions

An acceptance package is mailed to applicants. All offers of acceptance are provisional. An offer of acceptance may be rescinded if the applicant does not respond to the acceptance offer or does not maintain academic standards or meet other program requirements prior to enrollment

A notification of non-admittance is sent to each applicant denied admission. Upon request, the Office of Admissions will counsel the applicant to help increase their competitiveness for a future application.

Due to the large volume of applicants and the available spots in the class, the COA may place prospective students on the alternate list. Applicants will be contacted by the D.M.D. Program Admissions Office periodically to provide updates on the status. The applicant will be informed upon change of admission status.

Acceptance packages include an Acceptance Letter, Deposit Instructions, and ADA information for the program. The deposit must be received by the due date stated in the Acceptance Letter. Non-receipt of the deposit by the due date will result in revocation of the offer of acceptance.
