The postdoctoral program in endodontics is a 24-month certificate program that balances clinical experience with didactic instruction in the relevant basic and clinical sciences.

The clinical portion of the program is microscopically oriented, providing the student with modern concepts of endodontic treatment including rotary NiTi instrumentation, electronic apex locators, guided tissue regeneration, ultrasonic instrumentation, and use of digital radiography. Joint conferences with other disciplines such as periodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, otolaryngology, and neurology provide the student with a well-rounded basis to diagnose and treat conditions in the head and neck region.

The didactic portion of the program includes a core curriculum designed to provide all postdoctoral students with a basic interdisciplinary education and a detailed endodontic curriculum that concentrates heavily on knowledge of the literature. The program is designed to fulfill the specialty certification of the American Board of Endodontics. The program also includes research, teaching, and instruction by several well-known visiting professors.

The College of Dental Medicine selects students based on application content, academic record, letters of recommendation, National Board Dental Examination scores (if taken), and a personal interview.

Prior to matriculation, applicants must have completed a D.M.D., D.D.S., or an equivalent degree.

The applicant should complete the following:

  1. Complete the ADEA Pass Application. (all application documentation should be submitted to ADEA PASS)
  2. Complete the College of Dental Medicine application for postdoctoral students and pay a nonrefundable application fee of $50
  3. An official transcript from each college, professional school, or university attended.

  4. The ADAT Exam is looked upon favorably but optional.
  5. Please note that we subscribe to a rolling admissions format.  It is to the candidates’ advantage to get his or her application in early since the interview process will start no later than July 18th depending on the number of applicants.  We look most favorably on the applicant that has a minimum of 1-2 years experience following their dental school graduation, however, recent graduates with demonstrable achievement will be considered.

Coursework taken at international institutions must be evaluated for U.S. institution equivalence. This coursework must be evaluated by one of the services listed below. You should contact one of the following:
