Dr. Thyagaseely Sheela Premaraj is an Associate Professor of Orthodontics and the Director of Advanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. She is a full time faculty member teaching and supervising resident clinics, inadditon to mentoring residents in their research activities. She received her orthodontic training at University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and served as a full time faculty member at UNMC for more than 10 yrs before she joined NOVA Southeastern University. Her research interest is in oral microbiome and oral diseases. In addition, she also conducts clinical research in sleep related breathing disorders. Dr. Premaraj maintains an active private practice once a week with the faculty practice at College of Dental Medicine.

She has published many articles in peer- reviewed scientific journals and serves as a reviewer for several peer reviewed journals. Dr. Premaraj has written two chapters on :  Sleep Apnea: “What Every Clinician (and Patient) Should Know”, craniofacial growth series.  She serves at various capacities in national and international organizations, ADEA and IADR. She is also a member of American Association of Orthodontics.
