Dr. LINA M MEJIA is a Diplomate (Board Certified) of the American Board of Oral Medicine and currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at College of Dental Medicine at Nova Southeastern University.  Dr. Mejia obtained her Dental degree from CES University in Medellin, Colombia. Later earned a Certificate in Oral Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco, and an MPH at NSU.

Dr. Mejia has lectured nationally and internationally; she is the author of scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals and co-author book chapters.  She is CO2 laser certified since 2009. She has worked in different research projects and received a grant from NSU Chancellor’s Office 2010. She has been a spokesperson for the American Heart Association and is involved in community services programs. She has been the Director for the tobacco cessation initiative at CDM since 2012 and completed the training as a Tobacco Cessation Specialist. Dr Mejia served as a President of the South Florida Chapter for the Hispanic Dental Association.

Dr. Mejia is an active member of the American Academy of Oral Medicine, being part of Board of Trustees and a Committee Chair. Dr. Mejia is actively involve with the World Workshop on Oral Medicine VII, a group of global experts in oral medicine from around the world to explore the current status and future directions of the field.

In December 2019 was awarded with the Fellowship of the International College of Dentist.

Dr. Mejia assists heading an active Oral Medicine Clinic at NSU involving patient care, research, and teaching.
