COURSE DESCRIPTION

Friday, February 23rd AM: Luxation Injuries & Root Resorption: Management and Long-term Prognosis (Frederic Barnett, DMD)

The prevalence of dental injuries has been shown to occur in approximately 10-50% of children between the ages of 7 to 12 years world-wide.  These injuries occur primarily in the anterior region of the mouth.  Maintenance of the vital pulp and an intact periodontal ligament following trauma are critically important for these young patients as tooth loss can result in devastating and long-term clinical, social and psychological repercussions.  The management and consequences of luxation injuries are multi-factorial, and knowledge of the inter-relating healing patterns of these tissues is essential. Ankylosis and replacement resorption are frequently diagnosed following avulsion and severe intrusive luxation. The treatment of ankylosed permanent incisors following dental trauma present a clinical challenge particularly when it  involves a growing child due to the high risk of infra-position and under-development of the alveolar bone. New approaches for the treatment of ankylosed teeth, including decoronation and bone augmentation for the preservation of alveolar ridge prior to permanent prosthetic reconstruction will be presented.

Friday, February 23rd PM: Endodontic Microsurgery - An Update (Frank C Setzer, DMD, PhD, MS)

This presentation will review indications for endodontic surgery, discuss treatment planning of non-surgical versus surgical retreatment and give an overview on latest changes in endodontic microsurgery while reviewing the procedure step-by-step.

Saturday, February 24th AM:Turn Failure into Success: Simplified Restoration of Endodontically Treated Teeth (Alan Atlas, DMD)

This interactive presentation will cover the spectrum of treatment options for the successful restoration of the compromised endodontically treated tooth. The participant will learn risk assessment criteria necessary to determine the clinical requirements for successful tooth preservation. Step by step simplified clinical protocols for post selection, post and core placement and tooth preparation for the compromised tooth will be visualized with HD video from the microscope.

Saturday, February 24th PM: Using Social Media and Reviews Effectively to Grow Your Endodontic Practice (Jack Hadley)

As the relationship between endodontists and referring dentists continues to evolve, today's progressive endodontic practices are using digital marketing to help increase top-of-mind awareness and patient referrals, attract new patients, and strengthen existing relationships. Although an endodontists' relationship with a patient is typically not as "long term" as such relationships are in general dentists' practices, they're still important in terms of leveraging digital media to grow his or her reputation and practice. Social media and review-driven "relationship marketing" is powerful, but given the limited amount of time and resources an endodontic practice can spend, how are they benefiting from this new environment while keeping it simple and effective? We'll talk about the what, why, and how of social media marketing in an endodontic practice, and the strategy that fuels success. We'll also be examining many interesting case studies with examples of simple tactics you can start using immediately in your own endodontic practice marketing.
