Dr. Khatami is a Board Certified specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. She received her orthodontic degree from the University of Rochester, NY and her PhD in Craniofacial Biology from the University of British Columbia, Canada. After completing her PhD program, Dr. Khatami joined the Department of Orthodontics at Nova Southeastern University, where she currently serves as an Associate Professor, supervising and mentoring orthodontic residents throughout their postgraduate program.
Dr. Khatami believes in early recognition and treatment of skeletal and dental problems with an emphasis on facial esthetics. Working closely with other dental specialists, she offers personalized treatment plans to patients of all ages by applying advanced treatment techniques including Invisalign, Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), orthopedic functional appliances, and accelerated tooth movement.
Dr. Khatami is actively involved in many national and international dental and orthodontic organizations. Her professional memberships and affiliations include the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, International Association for Dental Research, American Dental Education Association, and Angle Society of Orthodontists. She has authored several scientific articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for papers submitted to various international dental conferences and journals. Her dedication to research has earned her several scholarships and awards from the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, American Dental Education Association, and International Association for Dental Research.
